Analysis shows forests' contributions to carbon neutrality and challenges in Russia's climate strategy.

Achieving carbon neutrality in Russia necessitates an effective low-carbon development strategy centered on forests.
The assessment indicates that net carbon balance estimates for forests can vary significantly—up to 7 times—between different studies.
Insight into the implications of land use change on carbon neutrality is essential for enhancing the long-term low-emission development strategy in Russia.
Government and private investment strategies must be clearly defined to enhance forest management within the anticipated climate challenges.
