Musicological analysis explores the dramaturgy and semantic features in Schnittke's concerto, highlighting artistic embodiment.
The aim of the study is to determine the semantic and dramatic concepts of Concerto for Cello and Orchestra No. 2 by Alfred Schnittke (1934-1998). The scientific novelty lies in the fact that for the first time a complete structural and semantic analysis of Concerto’s dramaturgy is carried out. As a result of the conducted musicological study, the form-building and genre-stylistic features of this piece are described. Conclusions are made that the constant theme of A. Schnittke’s work, i.e., the spiritual quest of man in the face of death, received a special perspective of artistic embodiment in this piece.
