Exploratory study encourages Arduino integration in teaching Thermodynamics, enhancing student engagement.
Abstract Several studies carried out on the teaching of Physics in Brazil have shown that experimental activities, as pedagogical strategies, can bring students closer to understanding and interpreting Physics content in a more concrete way. These activities stimulate students to think critically and propose solutions, while also sparking interest in scientific research. Therefore, this article aims to encourage the use of Arduino as a pedagogical tool to support the teaching and learning of content related to the study of Thermodynamics in High School. The methodological procedure adopted to achieve the proposed objectives was an exploratory, bibliographic study, conducted through the reading of and consultation with articles, dissertations, and books published in the SciELO database and on the CAPES Periódicos Portal. From this perspective, six didactic activities were selected and applied in the classroom with students. These activities addressed the theme and presented a critical analysis relevant to the topic. Thus, due to the number of works on this topic, 12 relevant studies were selected from the period between 2013 and 2020, of which eight were considered particularly significant. According to the authors’ evaluations and reflections, the use of the Arduino platform proves to be highly versatile as an educational tool, providing context and motivation for students and contributing to more meaningful teaching and learning. Therefore, it can be concluded that the technological tool used in this research makes it possible to successfully carry out activities related to the study of Thermodynamics, thereby supporting the teaching and learning process.
