Field study reveals family impacts moral behavior in adolescents, suggesting strong educational roles.
This study aims to understand the role of the family in shaping the moral character of Attaqwa teenagers in Ujung Harapan, Bekasi, including its supporting and inhibiting factors, as well as the extent to which family education contributes to moral development. The research employed a field study with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through interviews with community leaders, families, and teenagers, as well as through behavioral observation and relevant documentation. The findings show that the family plays a vital role in the moral education of teenagers, including setting examples in filial piety (birrul walidain), encouraging worship, instilling ethics, politeness, independence, and proper dress etiquette. Furthermore, families actively supervise teenagers' social interactions through discussions, advice, content monitoring, and open communication accompanied by emotional support. The conclusion of this study indicates that moral education within the family greatly influences the development of honest, responsible, respectful, and well-mannered youth, despite facing challenges such as time constraints and environmental influences.
