Analysis reveals crack growth durability in aluminum alloys, highlighting the impact of load sequence variations.
This article considers the problem of taking into account the loading sequence that arises when calculating the durability of elements with a defect in the form of a crack in an aluminum alloy. A model for determining the duration of fatigue crack growth is proposed, based on the relationship between the opening stress in the vicinity of the crack tip and the threshold value of the stress intensity factor (SIF) range. The results of comparing the experimental and calculated data on the durability of crack growth according to the model, obtained under regular loading with overloads/underloads in various variations, are presented. In all cases, satisfactory agreement with a high value of the correlation coefficient was obtained.
