The article examines the problems of the educational process in Ukraine under the conditions of full-scale war. It is determined that the most pressing and painful issues are the forced shift to distance education and the characteristics of the modern digital generation of pupils and students. The article analyzes key scientific studies by Ukrainian researchers on the peculiarities of distance learning. The main negative aspects of forced distance education are identified as follows: lack of proper contact with teachers and classmates, leading to impaired socialization; constant screen time; and others. The article also explores the main characteristics of the digital generation, such as multitasking, the ability to quickly search for and process information, and the use of artificial intelligence for homework. The major consequences of distance education for the digital generation are revealed: lack of social interaction, isolation of students from one another, inability to engage in group projects, frequent distractions, low intrinsic motivation for learning, and increased eye strain. The amount of time required to complete homework and prepare for classes has significantly increased. It is assumed that under the conditions of full-scale war, this form of education is the only viable option, especially for students from frontline regions, internally displaced persons, and refugees abroad. Further research is also needed into the methodology and techniques of educating digital-native students, taking into account their unique characteristics.
