This green protocol creates thiazolidine derivatives, demonstrating chemoselectivity in reactions using dicyanoepoxides and amines.
A green and efficient multicomponent protocol has been developed for the synthesis of thiazolidine‐2‐thiones via the reaction of carbon disulfide, primary amines, and dicyanoepoxides in water. The transformation proceeds under mild, catalyst‐free conditions, offering broad substrate scope and good to excellent yields. Notably, using secondary amine selectively affords a dithiocarbamate derivative, highlighting tunable chemoselectivity. A complementary reaction involving isothiocyanates, primary amines, and dicyanoepoxides in ethanol enables access to 2‐imino‐thiazolidin‐4‐ones. Both methods provide sustainable, scalable routes to biologically relevant heterocycles.
