Embedded systems enhance fire detection accuracy in forests, suggesting improved response strategies.
The increasing frequency and intensity of forest fires in India pose a significant threat to the environment, wildlife, and local communities. Early detection and timely response are critical in mitigating the devastating impact of forest fires. This research paper presents the design and development of a microcontroller and sensor-based embedded system aimed at enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of fire detection in Indian forests. Our system integrates advanced sensors, including temperature, humidity, and smoke detectors, to monitor real-time environmental conditions. By employing a combination of data analysis and machine learning algorithms, the system can distinguish between normal variations in environmental parameters and the presence of a fire outbreak. We are searching for forest areas where there is availability of water sources such as ponds, lakes, and rivers so that we can supply pipelines to the forests. The embedded microcontroller unit processes sensor data and alerts relevant authorities immediately, enabling swift action to combat forest fires. To ensure the practicality and effectiveness of the system in the challenging terrains of Indian forests, we conducted field tests in various forested regions. The results demonstrate the system's capability to detect fires with high accuracy while minimizing false alarms. Additionally, the system is designed to be energy-efficient, making it suitable for deployment in remote and off-grid areas
