Literature review reveals critical readiness and acceptance issues in IoT for fire safety, suggesting actionable strategies.
The integration of the Internet of Things (IoT) technology into fire safety management systems has garnered significant attention due to its potential to enhance early detection, improve response times, and optimize safety protocols. While IoT offers numerous advantages, the readiness and acceptance of such technologies remain critical factors influencing their widespread adoption, particularly in the global and Asian contexts. This paper investigates the readiness and acceptance of IoT technologies in fire safety management by examining key factors such as system integration, industry readiness, and implementation challenges. A structured literature review was conducted, synthesizing studies from peer-reviewed sources indexed in Scopus, covering the years 2015–2024. Key barriers identified include data security concerns, system scalability, cost implications, and regulatory challenges. The findings contribute to understanding the sector-wise readiness for IoT adoption and propose strategies for overcoming these challenges to facilitate broader implementation.
