The aim of the article is to conduct a comparative analysis of Ukrainian and world experience in forming the library image in youth environment, and to identify the main tendencies in its transformation according to the needs and interests of the youth audience. Research methods. The article utilises general scientific methods, including: analysis and synthesis when studying the experience of image formation in Ukrainian and foreign libraries; comparative method for juxtaposing domestic and global practices; content analysis for examining scientific literature; the generalisation method for formulating conclusions about existing trends in library image formation in youth environment. Scientific novelty. A comparative analysis of Ukrainian and world experience in forming the image of libraries in youth environment has been conducted. Common trends and differences in the studied field have been summarized. Main conclusions. It has been established that the modern image of libraries among youth is created through their transformation into multifunctional spaces and the combination of traditional library functions with innovative forms of activity. The comparative analysis of Ukrainian and world experience in forming the image of libraries in youth environment allows identifying both general tendencies and differences in the work of modern libraries. The following common trends have been identified: changing library space according to the needs of the youth audience; implementing new library services that go beyond the traditional concept of library service; strengthening the digital presence of libraries; using social networks to interact with youth. It has been determined that the difference between Ukrainian experience in forming library image and world experience lies in slower transformation rates, due in particular to limited financial resources, less technological equipment of institutions, and lower level of professional competencies among library specialists in working with youth. It is proposed to adapt foreign library experience by creating interesting and useful content, ensuring interaction with users through platforms which popular among youth audience, implementing practices of cooperation with youth in creating and improving library resources, and using library space for educational events.
