Proposed integration of QKD-BB84 improves security and noise immunity in wireless systems.
The continuous advancement of communication technologies has led to substantial improvements in wireless communication networks. Based on the principles of quantum mechanics, quantum communication has emerged as a promising paradigm for achieving highly secure and efficient data transfer. In this work, we propose the incorporation of quantum key distribution (QKD)-BB84 protocol into the existing communication system at its physical layer to enhance its performance, particularly in terms of security and noise immunity. This amalgamation of classical and quantum technologies can revolutionize the world of wireless communication, providing a robust and secure foundation for future generations of mobile networks by detecting and shielding from eavesdroppers. The simulation results show that the improved BER performance is achieved at very low SNR (-80 dB) with minimal phase angle degradation (0.05 degrees), and also demonstrate the implementation of QKD in LabVIEW. The USRP 2954R platform enables the feasibility of incorporating this technology into the existing wireless system.
