Theoretical analysis defines performing activity's psychological traits in choir artists, suggesting a novel model.
The article presents the results of a theoretical study aimed at studying the psychological characteristics of performing activities as a professional activity of a choir artist. The basis of the theoretical analysis was made up of domestic and foreign research. The authors describe the methodological foundations for studying performing activity as a professional activity of a choir artist, identify the relationship between experiences and activities, and highlight performing activity as a professional activity of choir artists through the analysis of a generalized model of artistic activity. The article describes the features of performing activity (independence, second-handedness, irreversibility, the impossibility of accurate reproduction, the presence of psychological effects on the listener). Based on the theoretical analysis, the concept of performing activity is clarified as an independent dynamic process involving the reproduction by the choir artists of the primary artistic images embedded in the works. Based on the theoretical provisions, the authors have developed a theoretical model of performing activity as a professional activity of choir artists. Performing activity has three stages — pre-rehearsal, rehearsal, and concert. Each of the stages involves activities at three levels: the macro level (a certain type of activity), the meso level (certain actions), and the micro level (automated operations). The proposed model involves consideration of factors influencing performance: external (organizational and social) and internal (biological and personal). The content of each factor has been clarified and disclosed. The advantages and possible limitations of the proposed theoretical model of performing activity. The presented theoretical model allows us to systematically study the psychological features of performing activities as a professional activity of choir artists.
