Modeling of SVPWM inverter enhances PMSM performance in electric vehicles, suggesting improved efficiency and reliability.
Recently, the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) has been a trending motor drive in Electric Vehicle (EV) design owing to its high efficiency, better power density, and smooth torque characteristics. In addition, the Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) inverters are extensively used in EVs due to their merits, like lessening the harmonic distortion and enhancing the overall efficiency of EVs. The development and analysis of an SVPWM-fed interior type PMSM drive for EVs are presented. This dynamic model is designed and analyzed in MATLAB/Simulink. The paper includes the modeling of the SVPWM inverter, which helps in controlling the PMSM speed and torque. A detailed analysis of the system’s output waveforms, including voltage and current, speed, and torque profiles, is provided. The drive dynamic performance is evaluated during various load torque conditions. This paper also highlights the potential of this control strategy for improving the efficiency and reliability of EV drive systems, leading to the advancement of electric mobility technology.
