Professional competencies of teachers are essential for performing the teaching profession across all subjects. In Slovakia, the subject of Technology has been long taught by teachers who lack the required professional qualifications and, therefore, teach the subject without proper expertise. This paper presents the results of a survey in which respondents evaluated their competencies related to teaching Technology, specifically regarding the thematic units that constitute the subject. The attitudes obtained were analyzed based on whether the respondents were qualified or unqualified to teach the subject. A chi-square test was used to compare the respondents' attitudes. The findings indicate that qualified Technology teachers rate their ability to professionally teach specific topics higher than unqualified teachers.
