A BSTRACT Aim: The aim of this study is to compare and evaluate the sealing ability of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), Biodentine, and TheraCal LC when used as furcal perforation repair material. Materials and Methods: Sixty mandibular molars were randomly divided according to the material used for perforation repair. Group 1 – (left unsealed) control, Group 2 – Mineral Trioxide Aggregate, Group 3 – Biodentine, and Group 4 – TheraCal LC. All samples were subjected to orthograde and retrograde methylene blue dye challenge, followed by dye extraction with 65% nitric acid. Samples were then analyzed using ultra violet visible spectrophotometer. Results: Group 3 (Biodentine) showed the least dye absorbance (0.505 ± 0.047), followed by Group 2 (MTA ANGELUS) (0.641 ± 0.054) and Group 4 (TheraCal LC) (0.653 ± 0.041). There is a significant difference in absorbance values among every group and each other group, except for that of TheraCal and MTA. Conclusion: It was observed that Biodentine showed superior sealing ability when compared with other root repair materials. MTA and TheraCal LC showed similar sealing ability, and the positive control showed the least.
