Analysis highlights design variations in rope bridges in Bulgaria, implying unique solutions for pedestrian and vehicular access.
Many rope bridges have been built in Bulgaria. Very often they are pedestrian and cover small water obstacles. For these reasons, a large number of them are executed without a project, with random materials. There are also large-span facilities, such as the bridges at the village of Lisitzite, at the Podkova Railway station, over the Water Mirror in Kardzhali, the openings of which exceeds 200 m. The suspension bridges near the town of Momchilgrad and the village of Erovete, should not be missed, too. On the one hand they have wide openings, and on the other hand, they can be used by cars. All of them follow one constructive idea but differ in its realization.
