This study finds opportunities for economic growth through AI in China and Arab states, highlighting geopolitical constraints.
This study explores the role of artificial intelligence (AI) as a driver of economic growth and digital transformation, with a focus on China's progress in this field. It analyzes the opportunities and challenges for cooperation between China and Arab states (notably the UAE and Saudi Arabia) within the context of the latter's pursuit of economic diversification. The study highlights the significance of China's role in technology transfer, localization, personnel training, and joint investment. It also discusses key challenges, primarily geopolitical constraints and US pressure aimed at curtailing Chinese technological influence in the region through sanctions and cutting off chip supplies. The research concludes that Sino- Arab cooperation in AI represents an ongoing strategic phenomenon, driven by the economic and technological benefits that contribute to developing Arab states' capabilities and achieving their developmental goals.
