Analysis reveals the efficiency of Laplace transformation for solving electromagnetic pulse issues in a chiral slab.
In these two papers we discuss the propagation of an arbitrary time-dependent electromagnetic pulse in a homogeneous chiral slab. We first consider here the simple case of a normally incident pulse. From a mathematical Point of view one has to solve an initial-boundary value problem for the wave equation. And it is shown that the Laplace transformation is the best tool to solve this kind of problem.
