Innovative inclinometer measures angles as low as 10−6 rad and a novel accelerometer shows enhanced sensitivity, indicating potential for seismic applications.
Two kinds of magnetic fluid sensors are described. An accurate inclinometer allows angle measurements as low as 10 −6 rad. A new accelerometer, without any mobile mechanical element is developed and tested in both laboratory and seismic sites. This unexpensive system is very sensitive (5 × 10 −4 ms −2 ) and has the definite advantage to be simple to build.
