Observational analysis reveals improved patient comfort with a wearable RF coil in breast MRI, suggesting enhanced compliance for individuals with physical constraints.
Motivation: Improving patient comfort in breast MRI is critical for compliance and diagnostic quality, particularly for individuals who experience discomfort in the prone position due to physical constraints, recent biopsies, or larger body sizes. Goal(s): This study aims to evaluate whether a wearable, flexible RF coil in a supine position can enhance comfort compared to the standard prone setup with a rigid coil. Approach: Using a Citizen Science approach, a questionnaire was developed to measure physical and psychological patient comfort before, during, and after both MRI exams. Results: Preliminary data shows the supine position with the wearable coil significantly improves physical comfort. Impact: The study supports a patient-centered, supine breast MRI approach, enhancing comfort, especially for individuals facing physical constraints. This has potential implications for broader patient inclusion and improved compliance in breast cancer diagnostics.
