Case report details surgical intervention and outcomes for a Grynfeltt-Lesshaft hernia, suggesting laparoscopic methods.
Lumbar hernias are a relatively rare pathological entity of the posterolateral abdominal wall, with Grynfelt-Lesshaft hernias being the most common subtype. Surgical intervention remains the only definitive treatment for these uncommon cases. However, a standardized surgical approach has yet to be established. In most case series, prosthetic mesh repair has been the preferred technique, particularly to minimize the risk of recurrence. The majority of reported procedures have been performed via an open approach, although recent literature has described a few successful cases managed laparoscopically using prosthetic mesh. In this article, we present the case of an adult patient with a Grynfelt-Lesshaft hernia who underwent successful laparoscopic prosthetic repair.
