This study highlights the role of exploratory and investigative tasks in mathematics education, suggesting implications for reasoning skills.
This study focuses on mathematical tasks with exploratory and investigative natures to understand their role in mathematics education. In our examination, we address the current body of scientific literature and pose the question: What insights do these studies offer about exploratory and investigative tasks in mathematics education? Employing a phenomenological-hermeneutic approach in our research methodology, we identified key invariants concerning the enunciative structures and actions necessary for the tasks at hand. This prompted us to consider the tasks as expressions with enunciative frameworks that provide directions for the actions initiating the activities. The objective is to advance the understanding of inductive, abductive, and deductive reasoning as components of mathematical reasoning.
