This analysis reveals significant links between economic determinants and public health indicators in adults, indicating the role of subjective assessments.
The purpose of the study: to develop a methodology for assessing the impact of economic determinants on public health indicators of the working-age population. Materials and methods. The size of the real sample, formed by a random method, was 613 respondents. The average age of the respondents in the total sample was 39.7 years. The proportion of men was 48%, women – 52%. The most promising way to describe an economic determinant is to create a vector, the components of which will represent its individual parts (factors) expressed in numerical form. The simplest way to represent this would be to use two values: zero and one. For the working-age population, taking into account the available data on the dependencies between the signs, two complex signs and one simple sign were formed: «the level of disposable income and a subjective assessment of the financial situation», «the share of food purchase costs and a subjective assessment of the financial situation», «assessment of living conditions». In addition, the classic feature «the level of disposable income per household member» was also taken into account when analyzing the importance of the economic determinant of public health. Given the qualitative nature of the distribution, criterion χ2 was used to assess the reliability. The level of denial of the «null hypothesis» was 95%. Results. The most significant factors were subjective assessments of one’s financial situation and subjective assessments of housing conditions, and the most significant were complex features that combine both objective (conditionally objective) and subjective assessments of one’s economic situation. Reliable dependences on economic factors were revealed only in relation to subjective self-assessment of health (χ2 = 4.64) and the level of need for outpatient medical care (χ2 = 3.89). The described approach makes it possible to use it in the process of making economic decisions in order to improve the health of the population, as it makes it possible to choose the most economically effective way to influence individual health parameters. If such an approach has little prospect at the level of assessing individual health, then the transition to the level of public health makes it possible to definitely record the results of exposure (management).
