Analysis shows endovascular embolization significantly reduces tumor volume and blood flow in supratentorial meningioma, suggesting implications for surgical planning.
Motivation: Changes in volume and other MRI-derived parameters in meningioma after the embolization in the short term remain unclear. Goal(s): We quantitatively evaluated the tumor and peritumoral edema volume, T2, and IVIM parameters in supratentorial meningioma before and after preoperative endovascular embolization. Approach: Volume, T2, FD*, D, and delta-D in tumor and peritumoral edema in meningiomas were compared before and after preoperative endovascular embolization. Results: Endovascular embolization for supratentorial meningioma reduces tumor volume and tumor blood flow in the short term. In peritumoral edema, volume, T2, and D changed little in the short term after endovascular embolization. Impact: We assessed changes in volume and other MRI-derived parameters (T2, FD*, D, and delta-D) in supratentorial meningioma in the short term after endovascular embolization.
