Cohort study evaluates adenohypophyseal volume's diagnostic value for HPG axis activation in children, suggesting potential clinical applications.
Motivation: Evaluation of HPG axis activation among patients with PP or CPP is essential for treatment decisions. Goal(s): To assess the potential diagnostic value of adenohypophysis volume (aPV). Approach: A cohort of 593 children was included. Partial correlation analysis was conducted to examine the associations between aPV and aPH with LH peak and LH/FSH ratio. Multiple linear regression equations were constructed, and diagnostic performance was evaluated by ROC analysis and ICC analysis. Results: This study obtained accurate pituitary volume and established predictive models for LH and LH/FSH. The study confirmed that pituitary volume better reflects the status of gonadal axis initiation. Impact: aPV and aPH demonstrated potential diagnostic value in assessing HPG-axis initiation status. The multiple linear regression equations incorporating age, weight and adenohypophysis volume showed promise for predicting LH peak and LH/FSH ratio, providing insights into non-invasive methods for assessing precocity.
