Analysis shows systemic inflammatory response index relates to cerebellar small vessel disease and imaging biomarkers.
Motivation: CSVD (Cerebral Small Vessel Disease) refers to a range of pathological processes that affect the small blood vessels in the brain, and is a major cause of stroke, cognitive decline, and dementia. Goal(s): This study aims to investigate the relationship between the Systemic Inflammatory Response Index (SIRI) and Cerebral Small Vessel Disease (CSVD), as well as common imaging biomarkers. Approach: Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to examine the relationship between SIRI and CSVD, along with WMH, lacunes, PVS, and RSSI. Results: Results indicated that SIRI levels were independently associated with overall CSVD occurrence, moderate-to-severe WMH, lacunes, and RSSI. Impact: These findings suggest that SIRI may serve as an inflammatory marker involved in CSVD development.
