A novel method enhances signal-to-interference ratio and reduces artifacts in 2D imaging, suggesting improvements for organ imaging.
Motivation: To introduce a 2D spiral RF pulse and an image post-processing method for outer volume suppression, enhancing signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) and eliminating wrap-around artifacts in 2D reduced field of view (rFOV) imaging. Goal(s): Using a 2D rFOV pulse to achieve rFOV imaging, signals within the excitation region are preserved while peripheral signals and artifacts are eliminated. Approach: We extend the original channels to virtual channels by leveraging linear dependencies in local k-space neighborhoods and combining them based on ROVir's principle to enhance the image quality of 2D rFOV. Results: The approach significantly enhances residual signal suppression, eliminates artifacts, and improves image quality. Impact: Our method integrates k-space local linear dependencies with the ROVir principle, effectively improving peripheral signal suppression in 2D rFOV imaging, enhancing SIR, and eliminating wrap-around artifacts. It can be applied in various applications, including specific organ imaging and real-time imaging.
