This model predicts intestinal disease progression in Crohn's disease patients, highlighting neural alterations.
Motivation: Neural alterations affect intestinal conditions. However, these neural alterations and their impact on disease progression remain unclear. Goal(s): We aimed to develop a multimodal neuroimaging-based radiomics model for comprehensive characterization of neurophenotype in CD patients and to investigate its ability to predict intestinal disease progression. Approach: Multimodal multiparameter MRI was used to capture subtle brain differences in CD patients. Results: We developed a novel multiparameter brain MRI-based radiomics model to characterize the neural features of CD patients with different inflammation levels. The neurophenotype can effectively predict disease progression, classifying patients into high- and low-risk groups. Impact: We developed a novel multiparameter MRI-based radiomics model to effectively illuminate brain changes and accurately stratify CD patients by neurophenotypic risk, which may also be applicable to other gastrointestinal diseases, expanding its potential use in various medical fields.
