The article investigates the functioning of the KomiPermian language in the Perm Region from the point of view of its use in education. The relevance of the work is due to a significant reduction in the number of native speakers of the KomiPermian language who are the indigenous population of the Perm Region which may indicate ongoing changes in the language situation in the region. Data from a survey among native speakers of the KomiPermian language, collected in 2015 and 2023–2024 were used as the material for this study. This article examines the main objective and subjective factors of the language situation in the Perm Region. The obtained results enabled to identify the functional capacity of the KomiPermian language in the field of education in the Perm Region, to identify the difficulties the native speakers face and to analyze the features of the functioning of the KomiPermian language in the field of education in the region.
