Proposed dual band MIMO antenna shows strong performance in WLAN applications, indicating high efficiency.
A novel 1x2 MIMO antenna is proposed for dual band WLAN applications. The proposed antenna is etched on FR4 material having 4.4 dielectric substrate with 24x36x1.6 mm 3 dimensions and cone shaped antenna elements are improved antenna performance. It is resonated at 3.65 GHz (IEEE 802.11 y) and 5.9 GHz (IEEE 802.11p) frequencies. Proposed 1x2 MIMO antenna is operating from 3.45 GHz-3.96 GHz having 510 MHz bandwidth at 3.65 GHz and at 5.9 GHz it is operating from 5.26 GHz-6.02 GHz having 760 MHz bandwidth. Gain achieved at resonant frequencies 3.65 GHz and 5.9 GHz are 4.99 dBi and 4.93 dBi. MIMO characteristics are also observed for 1x2 MIMO antenna with good results envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) is less than 0.005, diversity gain (DG) is almost equal to 10, total active reflection coefficient (TARC) is obtained less than −10 dB below for operating frequency ranges at 3.65 GHz and 5.9 GHz.
