This work proposed a dual-element MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) antenna designed for the WLAN 5GHz and sub-6GHz applications. The proposed antenna has ground structure of an inverted T-shape and two symmetrical hexagon-shaped antenna radiators. Using the CST simulator, antenna attributes such as S-parameters, realized gain, current distribution, and radiation patterns are investigated. Further, the envelope correlation coefficient (ECC), diversity gain (DG), total active reflection coefficient (TARC), and multiplexing efficiency are scrutinized to examine the proposed multi-input multi-output antenna performance for various wireless applications. The antenna resonates across a band from 2.78 to 5.90 GHz (3.12 GHz), covering the whole WLAN 5G and sub-6 GHz frequency band for wireless applications. The extracted result indicates that there is a satisfactory level of agreement with measured outcomes for wireless applications. Furthermore, throughout the band of interest, efficiency and gain were above 4.5 dB and approximately 88%, respectively.
