Presentation of a rare case of bilateral microblepharon leading to exposure keratitis, involving surgical intervention.
Microblepharon is a developmental anomaly with vertical shortening of eyelids. This can lead to exposure keratitis. Microblepharon is usually associated with syndromes involving chromosomal abnormalities. Isolated cases of microblepharon are reported very rarely. Here, we present a case of isolated bilateral microblepharon. The child developed significant exposure keratitis. So, a skin graft from the inguinal region was planned for eyelid reconstruction. The graft was sutured with 6-0 vicryl. The graft suited well, and the exposure keratitis resolved.
