Research demonstrates improved selectivity of 84% for methacrylic acid in isobutene oxidation, suggesting MVPC catalysts may optimize oxidative synthesis.
The process for the generation of methacrylic acid by the isobutylene method has developed into the most promising technical route for the current industry due to the greening of raw materials, high efficiency of the process and environmental advantages. However, the oxidative synthesis of methacrylic acid is less selective. In order to improve the selectivity, in this paper, 3DOM MoVPCe oxides (MVPC) were prepared using the hard template method, and the MVPC heteropolyacids composite catalysts were synthesized by the hydrothermal method. Characterization by SEM and BET showed that the constructed 3DOM structure improved the contact area of the catalyst with isobutene. The performance tests showed that the MVPC with 3DOM composite heteropolyacids showed a selectivity of MAA up to 84% under the reaction conditions of 410°C with oxygen to alkene of 5:1, which was much better than that of the reported catalysts. This suggests that the designed MVPC heteropolyacid composite catalyst provides a theoretical basis for the application of one-step conversion of isobutene to MMA.
