Abstract The president of the Timber Engineering Company, an affiliate of the National Lumber Manufacturers Association, presents a comprehensive picture of the objectives of the company in the field of industrial research, with special reference to the activities of its recently established wood products development shop and wood chemistry laboratory. He emphasizes the importance of bringing the results of fundamental research to commercial usefulness in promoting the utilization of material now wasted.
