This review discusses the economic impact and control strategies for the pine root-collar weevil, indicating its significance in pine plantations.
This paper discusses the characteristics, life history, habits, economic importance, and control of the pine root-collar weevil. The insect is sometimes very destructive in plantations of Scotch, Austrian, and Corsican pine, and for more than a decade has caused serious damage in widely scattered localities from New England to Minnesota. It is a good example of a relatively innocuous native insect becoming a pest of some consequence on exotic trees.
