Analysis shows timber production decline in the Klamath Basin, indicating need for sustainable management.
Since 1925, production of timber in the Klamath Basin of Oregon has fluctuated between 200 and 700 million hoard feet annually. It may even approach 800 million feet for 1941 and 1942. The author shows that this high level of production cannot continue indefinitely, and recommends means whereby, under sustained yield management and a drastic curtailment of cut, the industrial and social life of the community need not be liquidated.
