Comparative analysis of Chlamydia pneumoniae and IL-8 content in unstable atherosclerotic lesions, suggesting their role in plaque destabilization.
Research objective: The aim of this work was a comparative study of the contents of the Chlamydia pneumoniae and IL-8 in unstable and stable atherosclerotic lesions in humans, and an assessment of their role in the destabilization of atherosclerotic plaques. Materials and methods: Investigated 38 aortic tissue samples received from 63±7 years men who died from coronary heart disease. Verification of unstable progressive atherosclerotic plaques was conducted using histological staining Oil Red O and hematoxylin Mayer. Chlamydia pneumoniae to identify modified histological method Romanowski-Giemsa. Determination of IL-8 was made highly sensitive two-stage biotin-streptavidin method. Analysis of the results was carried out using a light microscope Leica DM 2500 and computer program «Leica Application Suite Version 3.4.0». Results: In surface divisions of unstable atherosclerotic lesions of human arterial walls identified Chlamydia pneumoniae, expressed cellular products of IL-8 and mononuclear cells infiltrates consisting of lymphocytes and macrophages. Conclusion: The results can indicate a combined mutually enhances action Chlamydia pneumoniae and IL-8 in the formation of unstable atherosclerotic lesions.
