The author offers an autoethnographic reflection on her experiences as a teacher of research methodology to BA Honours students. Mindful of the continuous need for higher education institutions (HEIs) to review and transform curricula and teaching practices, the study that directed this article used an autoethnographic approach to explore open distance e-learning (ODeL) as a mode of delivery for research methods education (RME). Through self-narration, critical reflection, and analytical interpretation, the author links personal teaching experiences with the specific context of ODeL, situating these insights within the broader scholarly discourse. This reflective inquiry highlights the benefits of ODeL for RME and yields valuable insight into the author’s teaching practices and course design, identifying positive aspects and areas still requiring improvement.
