Assessment reveals electrolytic polishing improves surface roughness of steel parts made via selective laser fusion, suggesting enhanced quality.
The use of additive technologies for the manufacture of parts from stainless steel powders has been steadily increasing in recent years. The application of the layer-by-layer selective laser fusion technology saves material for growing the final part, reduces the labor intensity of manufacturing and allows you to get parts of various configurations. At the same time, additive technologies are characterized by increased surface roughness of the resulting parts, which implies in most cases the use of finishing their surface. The effect of electrolytic polishing on the roughness of samples produced by selective laser fusion from steel powder 12Х18Н10Т is discussed.
