Analysis reveals key factors influencing occupational safety in MOEK, emphasizing behavioral audits and employee motivation.
The study aims to analyze and identify features of occupational safety in MOEK, PJSC, and branch 3, focus on the behavioral safety audit, and motivate employees to meet occupational safety requirements. A brief characteristic of MOEK PJSC has been provided, the information on the structure and the main occupational safety management system processes, and results of control measures (production control, internal and external audits) have been presented. The practices and initiatives to ensure production and occupational safety in MOEK, PJSC, where the occupational safety management system is a part of the Unified production safety management system of the company, are described. The main initiative measures, i.e., the Day of occupational safety, behavioral safety audit, the competition “Best occupational safety expert”, and others, have been mentioned. Internal and external audits have confirmed compliance of the company’s activities under the Unified production, occupational safety, and health protection management system with the established requirements. The data on occupational injuries for 2016–2024 have been analyzed. Proposals on the improvement of behavioral safety audit conducted for seven categories and 43 assessment criteria have been formulated. In order to increase the information content of the results of behavioral safety audit and employee motivation, an additional assessment under the “Employees’ actions” category is proposed, which will help identify structural divisions and categories of employees to be engaged in events to develop internal motivation. Results of a survey among employees assessing occupational risks and motivation are provided. According to the survey, overall, the employees (71 %) are satisfied with working conditions; 23.75 % of respondents are sufficiently motivated to meet the requirements; and suggestions on developing motivation have been identified: understanding the importance of maintaining one’s health, visual representation of consequences (injuries, disabilities, etc.), regular occupational safety training, high-quality and comfortable personal protection equipment, etc. The practices encompassed in the study can be useful for occupational and industrial safety experts.
