Book review highlights applied linguistics issues in society, suggesting solutions through diverse methods.
The coursebook aims to highlight the problems in some areas of applied linguistics (anthropological linguistics, lexicography, sociolinguistics and legal linguistics) which are relevant in the modern era and methods for solving them. As in modern science there is still no common understanding of the «Applied Linguistics» phenomenon, the demand for this book is obvious. The novelty of the coursebook is determined by the fact that considering the problems of applied linguistics in it correlates with modern trends in the development of Humanities including the globalization of the Humanities space and communication issues in the new reality. The problems and methods of applied linguistics are considered on the example of the language of the indigenous small people of the North (Kildin Saami language) and the northern border region (Murmansk region) as well as on the example of the use of invective vocabulary of the modern Russian language. The specificity of approaches to the study of the vocabulary of the Saami language is described. The coursebook clarifies the procedure for detecting invective vocabulary during the linguistic expertise.
