The article reveals the impact of protection zones on archaeological sites in Mitino, suggesting critical improvements for cultural heritage conservation.
The article is devoted to the issue of preserving archaeological monuments together with the historical landscape surrounding them. Today, when the newly adopted «Regulations on the zones of protection of cultural heritage sites» impedes the establishment of zones of protection of archaeological monuments, this topic becomes extremely relevant. The article examines the archaeological sites in the Spas-Tushina -Mitina area (in the north-west of Moscow) and their protection zones, established in 1994. It shows how, as a result of the development of protection zones, the general plan of the Mitino district was reworked and the Mitino Landscape Park was created. The article describes the history of the protection of archaeological monuments from local construction in 1994–2024. The findings of the survey of archaeological sites in 2014 are published. It is shown that as a result of insufficient predesign studies, the historical landscape of Mitino Park has suffered significant losses. Based on the traced patterns, the prospects for the protection of the cultural heritage of Spas-Tushin – Mitin are outlined.
