Case report highlights a rare telangiectatic osteosarcoma in a young patient, suggesting essential diagnostic roles for dentists.
Osteosarcoma is a malignant tumor of bone characterized by increased production of osteoid, with jaw involvement being rare. Nevertheless, it is the most common primary tumor of bone; hitherto its outright prevalence among malignant tumors is quite little and very rare for the telengiectatic variant affecting the jaw. This article reports a rare histopathological variant of telangiectatic osteosarcoma (TOS) in a young patient of less than 20 years of age and emphasizes the role of the dentist in diagnosing the clinical and radiologic features of the tumor followed by histopathological investigation essential for diagnosis.
