Case report reveals successful multidisciplinary treatment for amniotic fluid embolism, indicating critical care strategies.
Background: Amniotic uid embolism (AFE) is a life-threatening obstetric emergency. Because the maternal mortality associated with AFE is very high, early recognition and prompt treatment are important for improving the prognosis. We report a case of amniotic uid embolism successfully treated by multidisciplinary treatment. Case Presentation: A 35-year-old woman with no underline disease was scheduled for C-section at 34 weeks of gestation with spinal anesthesia. Based on the clinical diagnosis of AFE, using Epinephrine, Vasopressin, intubation, insertion of central catheter was performed. Total blood loss was 300 mL. The diagnosis of AFE was conrmed by pathological examination. She was discharged with some complications. Conclusion: We report a case of AFE who were rescued by prompt diagnosis and treatment.
