Assessment of debris flow risks in Chokhelt-Khevi and Naghvarevi-Khevi rivers, highlighting significant hydrological and geological factors.
The article presents the possibility of calculating the relative characteristics of the formation of debris flows in the Chokhelt-Khevi and Naghvarevi-Khevi right tributaries of the Tergi River and, as a result of these calculations, evaluates the nature, frequency, and peculiarities of debris flows in these rivers. The calculations are based on the data obtained during fieldwork conducted in the valleys of these rivers in 2023-2024. These data can be considered as relative magnitudes of factors forming debris flows specific to these valleys. The article provides the interrelation of significant hydrological, geological, climatic, and geomorphological characteristics of the studied riverbeds and, in the context of these interrelations, assesses the possibilities, intensity, and impact of debris flow formation on the existing natural and techno-environment. Based on these data, certain relative magnitudes have been obtained, which determine the risks of debris flow formation and may be taken into account for resolving operational and construction issues of the Natakhtari-Mleta highway.
