Survey reveals improved mental readiness and resilience in PISMP students facing teaching challenges.
Program Menyemarak Nyala Rasa Guru aims to share knowledge and expertise while offering exposure and experience through excellent teachers who received awards both national and international levels via professional learning practices. This preliminary study seeks to analyze the effectiveness of the program in supporting the mental readiness and resilience levels of PISMP (Bachelor Degree of Teaching Program) students in facing teaching challenges of the present day. The study, employing a survey method via a google form questionnaire, involved 195 PISMP students across various fields of study. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 27.0. Mean and standard deviation analyses were conducted to assess the program’s impact on the mental readiness of PISMP students, while inferential statistics, specifically Pearson correlation analysis, was used to examine the relationship between students' resilience and the challenges of the teaching profession. The program's effectiveness is reflected by a high mean score of 3.39 on students’ mental readiness levels. Correlation analysis indicated a significant positive relationship between students’ resilience and the challenges of the teaching profession. In brief, the study found that students participating in the program displayed strong mental resilience and an ability to face the challenges of the teaching profession. Such programs should be extended to novice teachers and school teachers to inspire a passion for teaching, grooming educators with a strong sense of vocation and better preparation for the increasingly complex demands of globalized education. This noble effort aims to elevate the teaching profession on the international realm, in line with the vision and mission of the Teacher Education Institute (IPGM).
