This datasheet highlights the mechanical properties of medium-carbon chromium alloy steels, indicating their suitability for hardening and strength applications.
Abstract 5140, 5140H, 5140RH, 41Cr4, 41CrS4, SCr440, and SCr440H are wrought, medium-carbon, chromium low alloy steels that are typically used in the quenched and tempered, or austempered condition. These steels are also suitable for flame hardening, in-duction hardening, nitriding, and nitrocarburizing. In general, these steels are intended for the manufacture of medium and large parts that require a high degree of strength and toughness. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and tensile properties. It also includes information on high temperature performance as well as casting, forming, and heat treating. Filing Code: SA-881. Producer or source: Heat Treater's Guide Data Sheet.
