This study analyzes the political cartoons of Xavier Bonilla (Bonil) and Vilma Vargas (Vilmatraca) in Ecuador during the beginning of Daniel Noboa's government (November 23, 2023 - February 25, 2024), focusing on five critical themes: Inauguration of Power, Popular Consultation, Drug Trafficking, VAT Increase, and Diplomatic Crisis with Russia. It explores the visual and textual representations in the intentionally selected works, analyzing drawing techniques, use of colors, facial expressions, and cultural references. This study shows how Bonil and Vilmatraca use signs and symbols to critique and comment on the political and social situation, demonstrating semiotics as an essential tool for understanding visual communication in politics. The study highlights the role of cartoons in provoking reflection on the Ecuadorian reality.
