The role of the United Nations in protecting women’s rights: from strategies to implementation

The article highlights the importance of the United Nations (UN) in the realization and protection of women’s rights at the global level. In particular, the article focuses on the strategies that the United Nations develops and implements to improve the situation of women in different parts of the world, through its specialized institutions and other important mechanisms to support sustainable development. The article provides a detailed overview of the main innovations and programs of the UN, international legal acts on the protection of women’s rights, in particular, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) of 1979, and reviews the achievements and challenges in the implementation of these initiatives.
