Background: Learning difficulties are often accompanied by additional challenges in physical and mental health, as well as psychological, neurodevelopmental and medical conditions. In such a situation, crises such as the epidemic of COVID-19, which caused significant economic and social disparities can double the problems. To fully understand the wide-ranging impact of school closures, the transition to online education, and the recognition and support of mental health concerns, it is crucial that we carefully examine the lasting effects of the pandemic. Methods: The literature review played a crucial role in providing background information for this study. To gather academic literature, we extensively searched the PubMed and Scopus databases, including terms: “COVID-19” AND (“learning” OR “learning disorder” OR “learning disability”). From initially n = 173 studies only n = 64 studies remained for the literature review. Discussion: We present a comprehensive strategy to address the deleterious effects of Covid-19 on learning difficulties. The disparities faced by people with learning difficulties across different socio-economic groups increased after the pandemic. Individuals with learning difficulties often experience unique mental health challenges that require tailored support. Providing professional assistance is crucial to ensuring academic success for students with learning difficulties, as it allows us to fully consider the significant changes in education and tailor our support accordingly. This will empower them to surpass their obstacles and flourish in their efforts.
